Description	United States Department of Transportation's Maritime Administration (MARAD) has provided $1 million in funding to six state maritime academies and the United States Merchant Marine Academy for a total of $7 million in funding for maritime education. This funding was provided by a government program that recycles obsolete vessels and will assist in ensuring education is available to meet the national security and economic needs for the navigable waterways of the United States.
