The North Carolina Railroad Company (NCRR) has paid $15.5 million in dividends to North Carolina's new Freight Rail and Safety Fund to support railroads and economic growth in the state. The North Carolina General Assembly recently enacted a measure allowing the NCRR to issue dividends to the fund. The NCRR receives its revenue from its long-term lease agreements and does not receive state appropriations. |
