With nearly six million commercial motor vehicle drivers out on our roads each day that number is expected to increase dramatically by 2045 and the safety of everyone on our roadways demands that drivers pull off the highway and rest periodically. At this year's Peer Exchange, Hope Rivenburg, wife of the late Jason Rivenburg announced the National Coalition on Truck Parking, a call to action for a national dialogue on trucking needs and strategies for immediate, near-term and long-term solutions. The new coalition will work to find solutions to truck parking needs and will include the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, the American Trucking Associations, the Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association, the National Association of Truck Stop Operators, and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance. |
