This figure shows a schematic of how information gathered on roads is transmitted and used by traffic management employees. The "Vehicle Detector" has a hardwire connection to the "Field Cabinet" and then the "Field Cabinet" is connected via some form of "Communications" to the "Communication Driver". Another input to the Field Cabinet is the Detector Number and this number is also sent to the Back-Panel Connector. The Communication Driver is connected to the DBMS along with a Link Number. The DBMS sends its information to a Large Screen Display and a Graphical User Interface where the information is presented in a graphical format.
