511 Model Deployment

Current Activities

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) are jointly sponsoring the Model Deployment of a Regional, Multi-modal 511 Traveler Information System. The model deployment seeks to demonstrate the potential of 511 services to bring together various and disparate data, and provide useful information to travelers through a state-of-the-art telephone interface. A solicitation for the model deployment was issued in January 2002.

In July 2002, the U.S. Department of Transportation selected the Arizona Department of Transportation and its joint partners to develop an enhanced 511 traveler information telephone service.
