Officials at Port Everglades and Port Miami are working to finalize a pilot program that will allow the important of fruits from South America. Existing regulations require some perishables to be brought into the United States through seaports with cooler climates to assist in preventing fruit-fly infestation. If the pilot proves successful, shipping goods through Florida ports will allow faster shipping times and lower costs. |
