| Description |
This report investigates the safety of large trucks on mountainous highways using data from Interstate 70 in Colorado. In this study, safety indices were developed by reviewing historical crash data and conducting a simulation-based assessment to predict accident risk based on weather, topography, road, and vehicle information. These indices were then plotted on GIS-based maps to visually present the analysis in a way useful to transportation authorities and the trucking industry by allowing stakeholders to assess risk due in varying road and weather conditions. |
