Description The United States Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics has reported that the Freight Transportation Services Index (TSI) has fallen 3.3 percent in March. The Freight TSI is a measure of month-to-month changes in the output of services by the freight transportation industries. The TSI covers trucking, inland waterways, rail, air freight, and pipelines. This fall has left the Freight TSI at the lowest level in more than six years, and the decrease was the largest decrease for any one month since March of 2000. The Freight TSI is down just more than ten percent from its peak in November of 2005. The April data for the Freight TSI is scheduled to be released on June 10.
