The port of Long Beach, CA started collecting a Clean Truck Fee on February 18th. The Clean Truck Fee is projected to raise nearly a million dollars a day or about a billion dollars over the next few years at the San Pedro Bay ports. This money will help finance the replacement of thousands of trucks which are polluting the air in Southern California. The fee, $35 for smaller cargo containers and $70 for standard 40-foot-long containers, will be paid for by the cargo's owner. |
