ACS Lite

How It Works

The diagrams below describe the physical connection of ACS Lite to a traffic signal system and the logic behind the systems operation. ACS Lite resides on a field hardened CPU that resides in the cabinet with the field master controller. A communications link between the field master and ACS Lite allows the software to monitor and evaluate traffic conditions and provide refinements to signal timing on a cycle by cycle basis.

ACS Lite utilizes a three levels of optimization to refine and update traffic signal timing. A Time of Day Tuner keeps timing plans updated by incorporating observations about traffic conditions into signal timing plans. A Run Time Refiner makes adjustments to real time signal timing on a cycle by cycle basis. The transition manager finds the methods of shifting between traffic signal timing plans.
