Title:
Spatial Variability of Thaw Depth
Abstract:
Statistical and spatial analyses were used to determine the variability of thaw using existing thaw depth datasets from various sites with a variety of climatic and terrain conditions. Results from the statistical and spatial analysis can be used to develop an approach to characterizing the spatial variability of thawing soil, to spatially distribute soil properties based on point data or one-dimensional models, or to populate sparse data sets with terrain properties. They are also useful for analyzing impact of thaw distribution on predictive models, such as for predicting vehicle mobility or surface runoff.
