Title:
Developing a Dynamic Traffic Management Model Framework for Hurricane Evacuation
Abstract:
Evacuation is becoming increasingly difficult as the population of hurricane prone regions continues to grow dramatically. In addition, development in coastal communities in the U.S. is expected to continue to greatly outpace new construction and improvements to the highway infrastructure. Consequently, there is a great need for hurricane evacuation models, which allow emergency response personnel to develop effective evacuation plans and management strategies. This paper describes the development of a dynamic hurricane evacuation modeling framework, which can be used for planning and operational purposes.
