Description |
The National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued final rules eliminating the need for automated vehicle (AV) manufacturers to equip fully autonomous vehicles with manual driving controls to meet crash standards. These rules will have significant implications once autonomous trucks are deployed; people may not need to ride in the trucks while they are in transit. If people do need to ride in the trucks, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration may be able to increase hours of service limits. |
